A fearless mother-daughter team in Perth Amboy took on a group of jewelry thieves in a dramatic daylight showdown that left bystanders stunned. According to the New York Post, surveillance footage captured the pair from SD Jewelry valiantly confronting four masked robbers who smashed through the window of their family-run shop with sledgehammers on Wednesday.

As the thieves loaded up black trash bags with an estimated $1 million in valuables, the women charged at them, desperate to protect their livelihood. One of the suspects jumped into a stolen BMW with a bag of loot, but the daughter refused to let go, clinging to his clothing as the car sped off, according to ABC 7.

“She fought with them like a man. She’s a brave woman,” said Jessie Sanchez, a salon owner across the street who witnessed the struggle. “Her mother fell away. She fell. It was too much.” The mother tumbled to the ground during the scuffle, suffering bruises on her arms and legs, the station reported.

The women later told reporters they were compelled to fight back because their store has no insurance as they could not afford it. Video of the heist shows the crew smashing glass, grabbing handfuls of jewelry, and fleeing within seconds as the two owners tried to stop them with sheer determination.

Police said the suspects remain at large as the Perth Amboy Police Department continues to investigate the brazen theft.
