Hollywood actor George Clooney has stirred controversy after labeling President Donald Trump a “war criminal” in response to the president’s recent remarks on Iran, according to Breitbart. The criticism followed Trump’s Truth Social post declaring that “a whole civilization will die tonight” unless Iranian leaders accepted concessions to end military actions.

According to Variety, Clooney remarked two days later, “Some say Donald Trump is fine. But if anyone says he wants to end a civilization, that’s a war crime.” He added that political differences should never override moral boundaries, saying, “You can still support the conservative point of view, but there must be a line of decency, and we must not cross it.”

The politically outspoken actor also voiced concerns about Trump’s foreign policy direction, saying he feared the president might withdraw the United States from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). “I’m worried about NATO,” Clooney said, claiming that “it has helped keep Europe—and the world—safe. Despite mistakes, it’s an institution whose achievements have stood the test of time.”

But the White House didn’t let Clooney’s accusations go unanswered. Steven Cheung, Assistant to the President and Director of Communications, fired back on social media. “The only person committing war crimes is George Clooney for his awful movies and terrible acting ability,” Cheung quipped, dismissing the actor’s criticism.
